Read “God’s Word Says” together. Repeat it and emphasize the message, especially for younger children.

When a similar moment happens, return to the Scripture: “Remember what God’s Word says?”
From My Home to Yours
As a mom of little ones, I’ve learned that teaching my children about God rarely happens in perfectly planned moments. Some of our best conversations about Scripture happen in the car, at bedtime, after someone gets upset, or right in the middle of an ordinary day.
One thing I’ve started doing is bringing Scripture back up when the moment actually happens. If we’ve talked about a verse before, I’ll ask, “Remember what God’s Word says?” I’m learning that repetition matters. They may not understand everything the first time, but little by little, God’s Word becomes familiar to them.
That’s part of why I created Faith by Fire Kids. I want our children to know that Scripture isn’t only something we hear at church. God’s Word belongs in their everyday lives.
What’s working in our home right now
Keep it short.
You don’t need a 20-minute Bible lesson. A two-minute conversation can plant a seed.
Bring the verse back later.
When the real-life moment happens, remind them of the Scripture you learned together.
Let them talk.
I’m often surprised by what my children remember when I stop explaining and simply ask a question.
Don’t underestimate them.
Young children can learn and retain more of God’s Word than we sometimes give them credit for.
